Kiss of the Spider Woman tells the story of two political prisoners in Latin America as they cope with the horrors of torture and brutality.

From the creators of Chicago and Cabaret, this multi-dimensional musical portrays lives torn between the harsh realities of prison and vivid, escapist fantasies. Blunt and violent drama is delivered with a slick, jazzy twist in this rarely-performed spectacle.

In a brutal Latin American prison, Valentin, an uncompromising revolutionary, and Molina, a flamboyant homosexual, are forced to share a cell. Despite initial animosity between the two, a surprising relationship develops when Molina shares his cinematic daydreams of Aurora, the glamorous movie icon of his youth. Aurora drags the two men into a world of movie magic and helps them escape the fear and darkness innate to prison life. However, as Molina becomes increasingly haunted by the image of Aurora as a Spider Woman who can kill with a kiss, it becomes clear that even the most colourful of fantasies can be worn down with terror and violence.

Combining the dark and emotionally-charged with the erotic and colourful, Kiss of the Spider Woman skilfully blurs the boundary between wild imagination and unsettling reality.

KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN

Truly uplifting... with genuine goosebump moments, a rare opportunity to see a seldom staged show” - Broadway Baby

“Director Shafeeq Shajahan making a virtue of low-budget necessity by letting a bare stage flow seamlessly...

defnitely an improvement on the grossly overproduced Broadway version
