CHASING SUNSETS

Performance Dates: 23-26 September 2015

Performance Venue: KLPAC

Chasing Sunsets is a short existential, absurdist musical, depicting the electric interaction between two strangers as they get to know each other.

FREYA, a young and lost girl trying to move on from a past flame, meets FERNANDO, a confident, suave young man who, internally, lacks fullfillment too. Their chemistry is startling and they somehow feel like they’ve met before. They engage in romantic and flirty conversation, finishing each others’ sentences, sharing initimacies. Five minutes of conversation, to our characters, seems like a lifetime of aquaintance. As FREYA opens up about her inability to move on, FERNANDO comforts her with his expeirence, helping her see the light in moving on.

The audience is left to decide whether it is really possible to achieve fullfillment from a perfect stranger or whether old flames have a second chance to be relit.

Either way, in a short 8 minutes, we see the power of human empathy, and the basic need for love and kindness to overcome periods of personal darkness.
